NUC revokes Ondo Varsity’s licence

The National Universities Commission (NUC) yesterday revoked the operational licence of the Ondo State University of Science and Technology (OSUTECH), Okitipupa.
The commission said it was concerned that the institution "has not commenced academic activities since it was formally recognised" in 2008.
The regulatory agency also issued a warning to the University of Education, Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti State, to commence academic activities before August 15 or have its operational licence revoked.
NUC alleged that the institution submitted fictitious evidence to get approval.
The governors of both states have been contaccted, it was learnt yesterday
In a August 3 letter addressed to the Visitor to Ondo State University of Science and Technology (OSUTECH), Governor Olusegun Mimiko, with reference number NUC/ES/156/Vol. 1/37 and signed by the NUC Executive Secretary, Prof. Julius Okojie, the Commission was concerned that OSUTECH has not commenced academic activities since it was formally recognised by the Commission in 2008.
