Sofoluwe, who disclosed this at a workshop organised by the School of Postgraduate Studies, said that the university had been given the mandate to focus more on post-graduate studies.
"The machinery to realise the objective has already been put in place, and we will soon start admitting, candidates for higher degrees," he said.
Sofoluwe explained that the workshop was to address problems associated with the PhD programme, which according to him, needs too much time to accomplish.
Speaking at the workshop, the Dean of School of Postgraduate Studies Professor Tolulope Ogundipe identified poor thesis writing skill of most PhD candidates as one of the major factors delaying the commencement of the programme.
